Magic time is near

Hi gang, the opening of trout season is approaching and the weather is finally breaking here in NY. It was a long winter and even I am about sick of it. I ice fished on the Susquehanna River from the last week in November till March the 9th. Then we went to flood stage and the Walleye season ended with a whimper. Now it is almost time for trout season. It appears that streams will be high and cold for the opener and that could bode well for the tributary fishing of the finger lakes. I have few reports from the Lake Ontario tributaries other than extremely high flow rates and a hell of a lot of snow in the hills. I am awaiting good reports and will post them as soon as the runs are commencing. The Adirondacks are still locked in winter and I anticipate a late start up there this year but that is always a early season crap shoot up there. That is all I have but here is a picture of an awesome trout caught on opening day years ago in the Derytur area of NYS
