Papa Bear has the latest news from the command bunker somewhere in Northern New York on a gorgeous remote trout stream – he’s  accompanied by two of the finest fly fishermen to be found in the Tug Hill area of Central NY.  The weather, water levels, temperatures, and fish activity are all coming together perfectly in the Adirondacks.

The latest news from Wayne’s log book is that brook, brown, and rainbow trout are all being caught from the 15-24+” range.  One beautiful 22″ wild brown was brought to net and photographed particularly well… the footage will be available here as soon as the Ol’ Master regains wifi access.  There of course is a tall tale to go along with the proof — one 24-26″ trout was broken off just above the Adirondack Retreats cabin.

Dry fly activity is still developing, but best bets right now are large, buggy stonefly imitations that reach proper depth as quickly as possible — which is to say use weight or sinking line to get your offering down where the biggest trout are feeding.
