Incredible Fall Fishing Dead Ahead

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAfter a biblical wet spring and summer, then a dry late summer and early fall, the fishing has gone crazy with the recent rains. This is the highlight of a recent trip. Pictured is NYS guide David Versendy posing with the clients fish. This 21 inch fish is a classic example of the kind trout that infest our and many of the surrounding rivers. The fish in our rivers up here can trace their lineage back to the nations first hatchery at Caledonia NY and the Bavarian Alps. These are the kind of fish that fill an avid trout fishermen’s dreams. Here in our region you can bring these dreams to life on a regular basis in relatively secluded settings. We are here for you!!! David lives in the Tug Hill area and is EXTREMELY knowledgeable on the tributaries of Lake Ontario.

Adirondack Trout Fishing Update – July 2, 2013

Papa Bear is currently up in the northern Adirondack region of New York State for an extended trip, of course without internet access. But where there’s a will – there’s a way to provide conditions updates from within the nerve center of the most remote wild trout fishing center in the area. For the next several weeks the ol’ master will be updating the stream reports via voicemail.

Current conditions: Poor

River Height: Very High

River Clarity: Off Color

Significant Hatches: None

Trout Activity Report: Heavy rains have kept things very subdued. The great fishing from earlier in the week tells us huge trout are stuffed in the river but flood conditions make it just about impossible to fish. The smaller rivers in the area are performing much better as they are at more fishable levels. As the main river drops, we’re confident things will pop at Adirondack Retreats offering a great early month of July for trout fishing.
