How highs the water?

Oakie didn’t have to bend much to get a drink. The dog loves the pristine Adirondack waters to drink and play in. Here at the home office in the southern tier of NY water levels are at flood stage. Local streams are unfishable unless you are in the head of the headwaters. I did get a report of some beautiful trout being caught in the Derytur area with one of the stream browns exceeding the 20 inch mark. My buddy Mark forgot his camera so I have no pictures but all were released and are waiting for you. I received a report from the Salmon River at Pulaski and the steelhead are hammering. My reporter lives their and said that he caught 6 on Sunday and never had to move from where he was standing. All were in the 6-8# range. I also got a report from the Lake at Oswego and my friends were slaying the browns just outside the harbor. One of the browns topped the 12# mark. That was yesterday 8/27. The Adirondack report in the northern section is that they have been spared the torrential downpours that have ravaged much of the rest of the state and with temperatures near 80 for a few days things are getting ready to explode up there. Here I am with a broken ankle and not happy!!!!

The hatches get so thick it looks like a snowstorm

The hatches coming off, sometimes resemble a cloud moving upstream. The fishing here is as wild at times as the trout you are seeking. Wading is the rule up here and in high water you better bring your A game if you are fishing the big waters. The thing is that  is when the monsters are on the prowl. Hit on the right day and you can have that magical day when every run is holding several very hungry trout that are acting like divas waiting for a Snickers bar. The bio-mass of forage here is amazing and the trout exhibit downright corpulent body dimensions. Life is finite, stay healthy and go fishing!!!

The Food Is Great

Even though the fishing was non existent at camp the stream side meals cooked over an open fire are amazing. Unless your a vegetarian these two strips have to make your mouth water. It is a total package here with the nature, food and fishing that is all world class. As I tell people this is an old fashioned Adirondack camping trip with modern upgrades. You could fly to New Zealand and not have the success that you can have right here in NY. Even though the fishing was tough here we have a cornucopia of smaller streams and with every rivulet up here holding wild fish there is always somewhere where trout can be caught. This is a great place to bring youngsters and teach them about the great outdoors. This is as good as it gets up here and make time for yourself to come here.
