Early April Trip Report from Adirondack Retreats

As Wayne said the other day, he’s up north at the cabin to get things opened up for the season.  I talked to him today and he told me that while the weather was gorgeous (70 degrees air temp) the water was less than favorable.  38 degrees of 99% melt from the mountain runoff, and in the last day there’s been several inches of rain.  All in all, high and muddy conditions in the Adirondacks of Northern New York.

Featured Guide Rich Garfield of Fly Fish the Adirondacks was at Papa Bear’s Adirondack Retreat over the weekend and reported sporadic hatches of BWO’s.  But with the high water conditions though, I have no doubt he was chucking a heavily weighted Sirloin.

Hopefully though Papa Bear can take a few casts with his unique minnow rig in between cutting firewood and cleaning up the property. In any case pictures will be up as soon as the bear returns.
