NYS. CRAPPIE DERBY

Hey ice fishermen!!! Break up your winter routine by attending the Whitney Point Sportsman’s Club annual ice fishing derby. Whitney Point Reservoir  is located in central NY and is one of the premier ice fishing events in the state. Last years event drew over 4000 participants and boasted over $15,000 in prizes. There are activities for all ages even if you are not fishing. Hot food is available on the ice and it is a fantastic way to learn some of the amazing techniques and view the sophisticated equipment that is now employed by this group of hardy outdoors men and women. We have come along way from the days of sitting out in the elements on 5-gallon pails. Search NYS Crappie Derby and it will take you right to the clubs derby page. Fishing on the Susquehanna River continues to be spotty but I did get a report of a 10# walleye caught last night 1/6 that was 28 inches long.
